Opened on Takeshita Street in 1978, Boutique Takenoko became famous when the flamboyantly dressed dance groups of the early 1980s wore its costumes while dancing in the street, giving rise to the name Takenoko-zoku. The shop still sells women's clothing and stage costumes today.
