Founded in 1873, Mukaitaki took over the Aizu domain's bathing retreat known as Kitsune-yu in Higashiyama Onsen. Its wooden buildings were among the first ryokan structures registered as National Tangible Cultural Properties, and the baths flow straight from the hot spring source.
