Founded in 1848 by order of the Aizu domain lord to make sweets for the common people, Nagatoya is one of Aizu-Wakamatsu's most storied confectioners. It is known for handmade Aizu sweets such as Yokan Fantasia, whose picture changes with every slice, and the walnut confection Kagunokinomi.
