Why visitNodaiwa Higashi-Azabu
Nodaiwa has specialized in charcoal-grilled eel since founder Iwajiro struck out on his own in Azabu Iikura during the Kansei era (1789-1801), and it ranked among Tokyo's top restaurants in an 1876 gourmet guide. Its Higashi-Azabu main store, built around a relocated traditional house from Hida-Takayama in 1975, is now run by the fifth generation and beyond.
