Established in 1659, Soumaya is considered Kagurazaka's oldest shop and is known as the birthplace of Japanese manuscript paper (genko yoshi), beloved by writers such as Natsume Soseki and Kitahara Hakushu. It still sells washi stationery and office supplies today.
