Why visitTanakaya Toen
The only survivor of the three teahouses that gave the Sangenjaya ("three teahouses") district its name. Established as a roadside teahouse in the Edo period, it converted to a pottery shop in the Meiji era as demand for teahouses declined with the growth of rail and road transport, and has operated near the same spot ever since.
