Founded in the Kan'ei era (1624-1644) soon after Nagoya Castle was built, Kawabun is said to be the oldest ryotei restaurant in Nagoya, once a purveyor to the Owari Tokugawa clan. Seasonal kaiseki cuisine is served in its historic premises, a registered tangible cultural property.
