Founded in 1910 on the temple approach to Naritasan, Kawatoyo serves eel freshly filleted, steamed, and grilled to order. Its 1917 wooden shophouse is a nationally registered tangible cultural property, and the eel-preparation display at the storefront is a beloved sight.
