Kishidaya was founded in 1900, originally as a sweet red-bean soup shop before becoming an izakaya in 1966. Its simmered offal stew is ranked among Tokyo's three great nikomi dishes, and the shop, said to be the oldest izakaya in the Tsukishima waterfront area, has even appeared in the manga Oishinbo.
