Founded in 1748 in Ogawa, a town famed for handmade washi paper, Futaba has welcomed guests for over 270 years. Its specialty Chushichi-meshi, a dashi-poured rice dish born from ties with statesman Yamaoka Tesshu, is counted among Japan's five great rice dishes and is served in a nationally registered heritage building.
