Founded in 1881 in Shimonoseki, Shunpanro became Japan's first officially licensed fugu restaurant in 1888 and later hosted the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki. Overlooking the Kanmon Strait, it serves fugu cuisine and offers lodging to this day.
