Founded in 1716 in Sakamoto, the temple town at the foot of Mount Hiei, Tsuruya Kihachi has hand-made soba for nine generations and long served Enryakuji Temple. Its Meiji-era main building is a nationally registered Tangible Cultural Property, formerly known as Honke Tsuruki Soba.
